A FILM BY ANNA SCHMIDT
Sixty years ago Germans all over the country were woken by the sound of shattering glass. In towns and villages synagogues and Jewish-owned shops were burning. In the “Night of Broken Glass” an outburst of violence erupted such as Germany had not known until then. Jewish eyewitnesses such as the violinist Hellmut Stern or Gad Beck, who later went into hiding, describe how they experienced Kristallnacht in Berlin and how their lives unfolded afterwards.
